Israel's prime minister today said he instructed his cabinet to open direct negotiations with Lebanon's government about disarming Hezbollah.
But even as he did this, more Israeli bombs were dropping on southern Lebanon today after Hezbollah, which held its fire yesterday, shot rockets at Israel today.
Al Jazeera says its correspondent, Mohammad Weshach, is the 11th journalist from the network to be killed in Gaza.
The Committee to Protect Journalists, or CPJ, says Israel's military has killed more than 260 Palestinian journalists in Gaza in the past two and a half years.
Two years ago, Israel said Weshach was a, quote, key terrorist in Hamas who posed a threat to troops.
The military repeated that allegation in a statement after his killing Tuesday, but did not say why he was targeted now, six months into a ceasefire in which hundreds have been killed in Gaza.
Also Tuesday, reporters Ghada Dayech and Susan Khalil were killed in a blitz of Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon that hit Hezbollah and civilian neighborhoods.
CPJ says Israel's attacks on the press should be independently investigated as war crimes.

The U.S., Israel and Gulf partners want Iran to stop nuclear enrichment, pause its ballistic missile production and support to groups like Hezbollah and open that strait fully.
Iran, on its part, wants compensation for the war, sanctions lifted.
says its missiles are a red line and maintains that it has a right to enrichment.
So if these talks take place tomorrow in Pakistan, it's as Israel and Iran each say they, quote, have their finger on the trigger.
And with each side, including President Trump, claiming victory going into these talks.
