And the reason why he knows that, the reason why Mandani knows that is because his own lived experiences he brings to this, but because he actively listens to the people.
You know I have this ethos that the people closest to the pain should be the closest to the power, driving and informing the policymaking.
His ideas are informed by his conversations, by meeting people in community wherever they were.
He made no assumptions about who desired or deserved to sit at the table of democracy.
He was not moving within the lines in a coloring book of conventional wisdom.
He was coloring outside the lines, meeting people exactly where they were, ushering in a transformative politic, not one of transaction, one of transformation that centers the people.
