In a case like this, I mean, you'll have issues that arise, and they're going to be what would pay attention to issues that come up, deliberating before all the evidence is heard, things like that, when they go in the back.
Those would be issues that I'm interested in seeing if they pop up and arise.
Well, look, I am of the school, and this is a relatively old school belief of trial lawyering, that you do not want to tell the jury that they're going to hear something or promise them something and then do not follow through because you lose your credibility with the jury.
And so I usually come in, introduce myself, tell the jury what I'm going to talk about, talk about it, and then tell the jury what I just talked about.
I just keep it as simple as possible in opening statements.
I believe, although there are no cameras in the courtroom, I believe there are going to be lawyers that try to make their name.
And so that will begin in opening arguments.
I think it's going to be, I think that people are going to do things that they would not otherwise normally do in opening statements.
As a lawyer, you do not want Donald Trump taking the stand.
However, you also may not be able to control your client.
It's a game-time decision.
My clients usually have a criminal record, so you don't put them up there.
You've got to realize that if they put Donald Trump up there, there's a number of things they can talk about.
They can talk about E. Gene Carroll.
They can talk about his contempt.
They can talk about those things.
