I will use um the example of a couple who um had uh interests in different recreational activities, like what was fun for her, what was fun for him.
In this case the
The the woman, the wife was the neurotypical and the husband was the neuro um divergent person.
Um
that the neurotypical wanted very much to go out on dates with other couples to socialize and they had she she knew a lot of people and they had a friend group but she wanted to be out like every Friday night.
And he was like, Yeah that's
Every time we like on Friday, I'm so tired after work, a week of work, that just doesn't work for me.
So first of all, it starts with each person understanding their needs, their healthy needs, not their programmed habit of need, but their true healthy need, like what do I really need to be healthy?
Right.
And then learning that okay, am I responsible for getting my need met, or is my partner the only one who can meet that need?
So in this case.
She learned that she needed to socialize and have some free nights out with girlfriends.
You know, not other men.
Girlfriends, other people, that she was able to get all of the social interaction stuff that she was looking for.
And that
They would schedule and he needed it scheduled in advance, not like, oh, let's go out tonight.
He was like, No, you know, like I need I need to plan my my week.
They would do Friday nights when he prepared for it.
He would come home early from work on some days if they were going to go out that night.
And when they planned it, and they had to have a weekly meeting and a monthly meeting where they did planning together to like what is fun for you, what is fun for me, and they started booking some really fun.
