The consumption of human meat preoccupied some of the earliest Christian thinkers, but not for reasons you might think.
They weren't worried about whether it was right or wrong.
They were worried about what happens in a person's body when they consume another person.

I had always thought that identifying a person with their flesh and blood, or even saying that having the same flesh and blood was needed to be the same person, was a secular or scientific view of people.
But it sounds like the version of Christianity that survived after Gnosticism held this too, which is why so many early theologians became preoccupied with the problem of cannibalism.
