It's an honor to provide this proclamation today.
Uh it's especially commissioner and now our State Representative Chip Lamarcus
family is helping evolve.
We of course have aunts and uncles and of course mamas here today uh to be with us and so we're honored to be part and caregivers themselves have actually come to participate this and want to thank you obviously from the bottom of our hearts what you do every day and of course our staff, et cetera.
So
Uh the proclamation reads as follows says Whereas the series of wars and conflicts in which our nation has been engaged over time since World War two has resulted in fourteen point three million military and veteran caregivers who are parents, spouses, siblings, friends and loved ones caring for those wounded.
ill or injured who have served our nation.
Whereas there are more than one point six million veterans living in Florida, and approximately seventy-two thousand four hundred and eighty veterans and twenty nine thousand four hundred and sixty-four military and veteran caregivers who call Brower County their home.
Whereas the daily task of these military and veteran caregivers can include bathing.
Feeding, dressing, and caring for the grievous injuries of wounded warriors.
Administrating medications, providing emotional support and caring for the family and of course in the home.
And working outside the home to earn essential income.
And whereas most military and veteran caregivers consider the challenging work they do as simply carrying out
their civic and patriotic duty without realizing they are in fact caregivers and do not identify themselves as such.

Whereas an alarming number of military and veteran caregivers, according to research, are suffering numerous debilitating mental, physical, and emotional effects as a result of their caregiving duties.
Whereas those who are serving in these vital roles in our community should be recognized and supported.
That's what we're doing here today.
And whereas the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, founded by Senator Elizabeth Dole in twenty twelve, adopted a comprehensive approach in its support and advocacy, working with leaders in the public
