in exploring how she found these little moments of connection and it's both, it's a textual based, you know, finding these traces and then it was also research and oral histories and so on.

Yes, it does, as well as a spatial one because it's about this particular town.

So there's a sense that there is a huge amount of work and sort of scholarship behind it.

But it also raises that question of, you know, did it really need Sylvia Plath to work as a novel?

Well, and the tragedy of it.

I think what she's done in this book is something very clever in doing almost the lead up and almost the work and almost the life.

So there's a real, there's a clever restraint to it.

I mean, part of me wanted just that shop girl story because she was wonderful.

Yeah.

And I know that people who know Sylvia Plath's work and poetry will get extra things out of it, but I think it will work for the fans and the non-fans as well because it does work as this, it's almost like a series of short stories, but it's not.

These chapters in a life, I think it's actually very well done.

And that's called The Daffodil Days by Helen Bain and it's published by Bloomsbury.
