Well, that makes sense too.
So far, Martin's not found mention of the Chris sword in any letters or painted into any portraits.
In fact, Martin's not aware of any other Southeast Asian artefacts in Nelson's belongings.
So he's really just going on clues from the label and his feelings after decades in the business.

That fits Martin's potential timeline.
So maybe on his way over here to Australia, Matthew Flinders picked up the Chris sword in Timor to take back to his old colleague in England.
Another part of that picture is the Chris sword's journey from England to Australia.
To that end, Adam Brum discovered one of Nelson's nephews actually emigrated to the New South Wales colony in 1828.
And maybe he brought the sword with him.
From there, well, that leaves more than 150 years between it potentially arriving at Australia and the next solid time point in its history, which was a Brisbane gun show in the late 80s or early 90s, where it was bought by the bloke who Adam then bought it from.
Who had it during those intervening decades is, at the moment, a mystery.
But right now, the Chris sword is in a safe in London as Martin continues searching for something that might nail it as a genuine Nelson artefact.
And if he does, it could be worth serious cash.
One of Nelson's swords fetched more than 330,000 pounds at Sotheby's in 2002.
That was a little under a million Australian dollars at the time.
What do you hope will happen to the Chris?
And if a connection to Nelson proves elusive?
So it might be possible to figure out when the cris was made by using carbon dating.
You could use perhaps wood from the handle or the sheath, and maybe even extracting tiny pieces of charcoal from the metal, which would have been trapped in there when the blade was forged.
