I'm not sure I'm much closer to understanding the concept fully, but I did have Trilly on my long list, mainly because of the Trilly train thing.

To me, that feels like a culturally significant moment.

100%.

That felt like the strongest signal that he should be considered.

And that idea that he hung around for a long time.

He was up and down the grid in various different good cars, bad cars, underperforming in good ones, sometimes over-delivering in bad ones.

Dragging his career out as long as he could while he made wine as well towards the end of his career.

Racing for really bad teams.

So I think that element of sticking around despite it all is also quite strong in Trudy.

So yeah, I think that's, as far as I understand the concept, I think that's a pretty good pick.

fun pick to kick us off so let's have a look who's next on my list ben you're next up so while you continue to grapple with the concept you've now got to make a choice oh dear um okay so i'm gonna go for i'm gonna go for pierre luigi martini and i'm not gonna go for him because ed mentioned him earlier in the show although that

obviously gives me more confidence in terms of mentioning him but he he was one of the first names to come to mind because of that single team longevity he had just racing for Minardi for season after season a rubbish team but a well-liked team but also not only being rubbish all the way through his career actually being quite good turning up randomly high on the grid particularly in the early part of the V10s era and

sort of single-handedly dragging that team to results sometimes.

So a kind of under-heralded, but yet well-known, loyal driver.

I feel like that's an element I did pick up from the Barclaysman thing, that you tended to get these kind of one-club heroes who are kind of...

staying with that team despite maybe being slightly too good for that team at points, but maybe not always consistently too good for that team.

That means they just go on to bigger and better things.

So kind of, yeah, legendary in his own way, limited, but also capable of overachieving and...

doing things that live long in the memory.
