It's impossible.

So I think it's more important than ever to have a filter on your information.

Have some limitations because if you have no limitations on like your information sources or your investments, it'll make your head spin.

And it's really tempting to just take it all in and drink from a fire hose.

Well, unfortunately, I think we've learned this decade.

I talked about the outcomes of the pandemic.

We've learned that people really like to speculate.

The stat I gave in my book, and this one blows me away every time.

Each year, Americans spend more money on the lottery than they do on sporting events, books, video games, movies, and music combined.

The retail investor has just shown more that they want to speculate and gamble.

And I think, to be fair, a lot of people are doing it with part of their portfolio.

They have target date funds or index funds in their retirement accounts, and they're leaving those alone.

And then they have their brokerage account and are speculating with that.

If that's the case, that's not ideal, obviously.

But I think if doing one allows you to leave the other one alone and you size it correctly, it's not the worst thing in the world, but it's just a gateway to more and more speculation.

And sometimes the worst thing that can happen is one of those lottery tickets pays off.

And you go, oh, I'm pretty good at this.

I'm going to do it again.

As we all know, the probability of that happening consistently is very low.
