I would say that it's uh it's a tenure that contains multitudes.
I think it's easy to forget now that uh you know, he's been a bad owner for more than a decade.
Uh that early on in his tenure at the Angels he was seen as a savior.
Uh, you know, he bought the team in 2003, the year after they won the World Series, but they had been kind of a perennial doormat.
And he I feel like he was early on the strategy of just spending a ton of money on free agents, you know.
You know, the modern uh labor dispute certainly has some roots in Arte Moreno going absolutely crazy from two thousand four to say two thousand twelve, signing
You know, Vladimir Guerrero Senior, um, Bartell Cologne, Albert Poohs, he you know.
CJ Wilson at one point, Josh Hamilton.
He just you know, he kept the spigots open for a long time.
Uh I would say that
That strategy has its limits, as we we see in the majors today.
You know, just spending is not the only way that you can get ahead.
But early on, uh, the Angels really tried that with some good success.
I did not remember this, but they they cut beer prices.
Um
Right after he joined the team, that they they basically cut beer prices in half, thinking that that would bring more fans out to the stadium.
