He's done that on purpose, man.
I don't know he's let him go.
He knows he can get back past him at the end of the straight.
So yeah, he's just driving very, very cannily, very cleverly.
And that combined with the raw speed that he's got at the moment is a pretty lethal combo.
And it's coming from a driver that's in his second year in the sport.
If we'd said pre-season, as I'm sure we probably did, that these regulations are going to take a slightly different driving style and it might be more of a thinking man's year possibly.
And you wouldn't have immediately put Antonelli to the front of that queue as someone who will take advantage of that.
And yet here he is seemingly week on week doing this sort of thing where I had the same read on that first lap as you did, where Verstappen, sure, he got ahead going into Radion.
I fully expected Antonelli to have played the game correctly that he would repass by the time we get down to Les Combes and that's exactly what happened.
Very impressive pace.
I don't think it was Antonelli's best win of the year.
That's not really an insult towards Antonelli in any way given he has some very impressive results to this point in the year.
But his level of dominance maybe wasn't the same as what we saw at, say, Monaco.
But he did look very much in control.
I think the only slight disappointment in Antonelli's performance, again, didn't really cost him, is how long it took him, comparative to Charles Leclerc, to get by Lando Norris when Norris hadn't stopped.
He was stuck for a fair few laps behind Lando Norris, whereas it felt like Charles Leclerc was actually the one who
who kind of did what Antonelli's done all year, which is just rock up and get the move done almost straight away.
But that's very much nitpicking what was otherwise an almost flawless performance.
