Yeah, I mean the shocking thing to me about or one of the most shocking things is there was this kind of A B test 'cause Japan also kind of had this deal um to you know, their chipsack version. podcast-host

And they're off to the races, they built the fab. podcast-host

And you know, for those of you who are familiar with Japan, like they invented bureaucracy. podcast-host

Like these guys love rules, they love paper, um, they love checks and balances, they love consensus, they're a collectivist culture in all in many, many ways. podcast-host

Um yet they were able to do it. podcast-host

So like we're we're way worse than that at this point. podcast-host

Yeah, and so defense tech is uh you know, there's certainly more complexity there. podcast-host

So if you if if you go and say, Okay, well what are the challenges with defense tech? podcast-host

Yeah, the big one well, there's two big ones. podcast-host

One one is um podcast-host

kind of procurement and the process. podcast-host

And so, you know, one of the things that happened in the US, uh, and it you know, there were all kinds of incidents that that caused it, but um there the rules around what you can procure to basically prevent corruption um have gotten podcast-host

basically illogical and and wild. podcast-host

So one of them is uh they purchase via this cost plus model, um, which basically says, okay, whatever it costs you to build, then we'll pay you 10 or 20% more than that or whatever it is. podcast-host

And uh the problem with that is, well, like let me just spend as much money as I can building this thing and pay everybody a really fat salary. podcast-host

And take our time and have it be long because there's no penalty for it being like three years late and the technology's sucking. podcast-host
