They've taken some lumps.

We've got a really good defensive line that's out there competing and getting after us and making us better.

But those two guys are growing every single day.

I didn't come into this league or take this position to necessarily make friends.

That's not the case.

I love what I do.

I love who I'm doing it with.

That's the most important thing to me, and everything I do is with them in mind.

I think you're certainly conscious of it when you have a background on one side of the ball that you take a position like this and you're touching all three phases.

How do you bridge that gap?

That's certainly something I'm conscious of.

I can do a better job.

I'd probably say that's job number one.

It's just time allotment with those other two phases that I'm not around quite as much as I'm calling plays on offense.

The good news is I've been with a lot of these guys on the offensive staff now for a year, so they know what to expect.

I have a high trust level with them, which allows me to free my time just a little bit more to be with us on the defensive side of the ball.

See, I'm a quick learner.
