But I I love this phrase that you use, which is subjective opticality in terms of the technical approach, but also the kind of subject approach and the uh moral approach, if you like.

Yeah.
You talked about photographic objects there, and it's obviously tremendously important, too, that the expressivity is there, not just in the work with the lens, but in the work with the print, right?
And the darkroom or what follows.
I know that you you studied at Yale with Richard Chip Benson, who's like a a legendary printer and so on, in terms of the extreme beauty of the objects that he produced, right?
So tell us about the
importance of those two things in relation to one another, in other words, the making of the photograph and then what happens after that.
And do you think that that objectness has anything to do with the fact that you, it seems to me, always wanted to make art photography?
There was never an impulse that you had to be a documentarian.
There was never a sense that you wanted to engage in reportage.
It seems almost right from the start that you had a calling to make photography that was art.
And is that objectness part of that?
Is there something about the objects you make as an art photographer that might be

Tell us about the role that research and a kind of rounding of the concept plays in that process.
Because it seems to me, again, that you you spend a long time thinking about your projects before they're actually made.
I think in particular of how you did lots of research at the Western Reserve Historical Society for Nightcoming Tenderly Black, for instance, but also that I know that you spent a long time thinking about how.
