I understand sometimes fans don't understand the way or what I was trying to say specifically.
But what I said was the way I felt.
That's my personal opinion.
Every player gets paid for what they did.
I never stopped working hard.
And there were other comments as well, but those are the ones that are I think at the core of um what generated this reaction and the discussion that's followed.
So
A little more facts, then I'll get into a bit more commentary.
So just as far as facts here.
have to fact check Vlad Guerrero Jr.
because simply not accurate to say that he's being paid for what he's already done.
This is not back pay.
They're not retroactively paying him for the very good seasons that he's had in the major leagues.
He is now getting paid on this five hundred million dollar contract for the seasons, um, this this current season and the seasons to come, um, a fourteen year period of time.
And for the right to that production for that extended period of time, the Blue Jays are paying him $500 million.
In arbitration, you get paid for what you've already done.
Um, if you save 40 games, but your fastball's declining and you know your elbow ligaments are fraying and everything's pointing in the wrong direction, you still get paid in arbitration because of what you've already done.
So that is true sometimes in baseball, but it's not true in baseball baseball baseball baseball.
Free agency.
And in free agency, you get paid for what is ahead.
