I thought he had a fantastic game.

So he's been informed sort of on that origin period.

So I think it was the right call to make with Trent and putting him on and that's the rotation that we want to go with.

yeah you sort of have your you have a plan and you usually have your first three in the changes plan ready to go and then things change after that yeah so if you lose an outside back or you know one of your back rows is struggling with a hamstring or whatever you might have to make that change and once you make some of those changes it changes your whole setup so

you're also keeping an eye on how the game's going and there's always been that that real bonus of having you know ruben cotter uh maxi plath who can get through a lot of work and a lot of speed in the middle so you know paddy paddy would have known that like

it's a bit up in the air whether he was going to get on or not.

And I think by pulling the trigger on obviously Reece Walsh and Jeremiah Nanai, that sort of took him out of the game, which is disappointing for him.

It's never a great thing to suit up and get ready for an origin and not get on.

But I think we've created that in the game now with the six-man bench.

Everyone wants a six-man bench because, oh, what happens if your fullback gets knocked out in a grand final?

Can you just put a straight fullback on?

But the downside of that is now you've got six players on the bench and two aren't going to get on.

So that causes a lot of issues.

And also at Clubland, it causes a lot of issues now because players can go three, four weeks, five weeks without hardly really playing much footy.

They're just warming the bench, warming the bench and not getting on, not getting minutes.

So when you move from a four-man bench to a six-man, there's some positives, but then it opens up a lot of other issues.

Exactly what you said, though, about –

you know you're learning from your mistakes in game one and game two but you also can learn from things from your opposition you know if you think back to game one we put cape well in the centers didn't we yeah and he got skin yeah yeah and and so many times to our origin history he's done a great job there and he got skin and then obviously he got done again and tony was having a red hot crack at him
