I'm from the state of Wisconsin, big, very fluid, highly energized Democratic primary happening right there.
That's on August 11th.
My hope and my expectation is that everyone who was involved in the primary and a ton more people will say, all right, it is time to go.
The Republican candidate in Wisconsin, Tom Tiffany, tried to overturn the 2020 election and the governor's in charge of certification of presidential elections in the state of Wisconsin.
So lots of people have lots of disagreements with lots of different candidates in lots of different directions, and that's fine.
The critical question is, do you then say, you know what, we beat each other up before, but now we're on the same big team that believes this country should actually work for everyone and not a tiny group of people at the very top?
Absolutely.
I do.
I see it happening in Wisconsin.
I see that happening in Maine.
I see that happening in Michigan.
My sense is that people are going to be ready to roll up their sleeves and go to bat in the day after the primary the same way that they're scrapping it out in the primaries right now.
Even Michigan.
Any individual legislator doesn't have the power to change every policy.
People have different positions on things.
But the Democratic Party is a big tent.
It is a coalition party.
And the laws that pass are the sum of what can attract all the votes, basically, to cross the whole thing.
It becomes very clear when you step back from any particular battle that the fundamental difference between the GOP, which right now is a cult of one person who's so corrupt and so bent on enriching and glorifying himself and his friends at the expense of everybody else...
And a democratic party that the through lines are the idea that the economy should work for everybody, that everyone's rights and freedom should be protected, and that we should be a democracy.
