Mel, your family escaped the Cambodian genocide, as we mentioned before, and came to Australia as refugees in the 1970s.
Did your mum, your grandparents, your great-grandmother talk about that at home?
Yeah, I really identify with that Asian stoicness, right?
That philosophy of not dwelling in the past, not focusing on what's out of your control.
What did you think about that philosophy at the time when you were growing up?
