That's the thought process I have about both teams.
And with those sponsors that come in with basically a lot of money to try and bring them to that super team status, there's that desire to have a short-term relationship
change in that team in terms of results and so forth.
And that is definitely possible in some sense, but you can't just win the Tour de France in the span of three, four years.
You, especially in a world where Tadej Pogacar, Jonas Vingegaard, Paul Seixas live, you need specific signings to make that happen.
And signing tier two, tier three GC riders won't necessarily get you closer to winning the Tour de France.
Sure.
Incrementally, that could help.
So signing a Derek G to top five the Giro d'Italia can get you more respectable in those Grand Tours, because like you say, that is a Grand Tour that they now finish top 10 in, while last year that was not the case.
And that is a step forward in the same way that signing Jai Hindley for Red Bull, who then won the Giro, was a step forward for them.
How much does that bring them closer to winning the Tour de France?
You can't really put a number on that, but I don't think it's gigantically because the one thing that will get you a Tour de France chance to win it is to sign the exact rider to be able to do that in the first place or to develop that rider yourself, which Trek doesn't have that in their dev team and Red Bull not really either right now.
Yeah, true.
I would say Gafredo and Trek, but that's also just an essence of the sponsors of the team changing.
So I don't necessarily see that as like, it's not a bad thing that a team has different national cultures as their sponsorship regions and therefore wants to focus on those regions.
I'm fine with that.
It's more when I look at the changes when it comes to the management and I look through these names, like Christian Niermann was a prevalent role in Vismalisa in the last couple of years.
And based on
what I could see externally and from my year of working with him as well, then that seemingly was a pretty good guy in the team.
I think he did his job pretty well.
