Hello and welcome to another episode of the Language and Travel Hacking Podcast.

I'm your host, Benny Lewis, and in today's episode I want to talk about memory and how it relates to learning languages.

So, about an hour ago I walked into my kitchen, stood into the middle of it, and I could not for the life of me remember why I went in there.

And this happens to me pretty regularly.

I lose my keys in

in the middle of my own apartment and it's not that big where I tend to be staying.

I forget people's names about four seconds after they tell me.

I be halfway through making a point in the conversation and then I forget what I was about to say.

So in general my memory

Is pretty poor and it always has been.

And yet I can speak a bunch of languages and remember tens of thousands of words that you need to be able to communicate at a flute level in a lot of them.

So these two facts may sound like they belong to two different people.
