This is kind of a weird time because it's harder than normal to spend money where you usually spend money.
Some stores are closed.
A lot of services are closed.
And so when thinking about people who are most impacted by this crisis, thinking about retail workers and restaurant workers and hotel workers, after school programs,
Maybe the place usually go for a haircut, maybe you can reach out to them or see if there's a relief fund that they've set up in terms of trying to stay afloat in terms of the people in your life thinking about someone you know, who might be in a dire financial situation and
reaching out and talking to them about how they're staying afloat and what you could maybe do to help with that if you're going out and you're fortunate enough that you can spend your stimulus payments just on businesses and people around you you could do a big purchase at a store that means a lot to you whether it's a neighborhood store or your local grocery store that you want to support
another way to think about this is to just go about your day the way you usually would in a non-pandemic time the way you would do it safely of course while social distancing while staying at home but if you're usually making orders just make those orders a little bit bigger to support the places you usually go to one other way to think about this is gift cards as well those are basically interest-free loans to your
favorite businesses.
So that's another way to think about how to spend this money if you're fortunate enough that you're using this money to support those around you.
What I heard through this was the money that you spend on yourself is more about keeping people in your life who might be financial or vulnerable.
So in terms of spending money on yourself, some of the experts I spoke to have mentioned that it'd be great if you could make regular payments to someone who cleans your house, for example, to think of it that way, that if you have services that you
If you have services that you pay for regularly, say you do have a cleaner or a gardener or a nanny, that you could put it towards payments, cash payments to those people in your lives.
And that's a way you can think of spending on yourself because you want to be in business with those people later.
