And I always thought that I must be a Luddite because I just, you know, I could see the brilliance of certain parts of it, but I was never a great fan.
I recently read Francesca Wade's major biography of Gertrude Stein, which I think is the seventh biography of Gertrude Stein that's been published.
And I understand her a lot more from having read that biography.
I was in London recently and I always like to buy books of, you know, from where I am.
And I was there and I saw, and all over the bookshelf was this book, The Bookshop Window.
And there was so much about it, I was almost tempted.
And I thought, you know what, I just don't want to know about Gertrude Stein anymore.
So...
Yeah, I'm sure it's a very good book because I've heard that it's a very good book, but I just don't feel attracted to it at all.
Well, I've actually just been on a holiday, so I've read more than I usually get a chance to read.
And I'm really interested that you've been talking about poets and prose, poets writing prose, and reading books next to each other, because I had an absolute treat.
I read Erin Vincent's Fourteen Ways of Looking.
which has left me awestruck.
It is one of the most beautiful, powerful, well-structured, poetic memoirs I have ever read.
