So I think by President Trump saying that he wants those companies to give some of that money back to the public and cut retail prices in some form, he's also kind of directly addressing those Americans, many of whom are Republicans, who have expressed concern about those prices.
It is.
And at least publicly, President Trump has been very dismissive that the midterms would have any sort of impact on his decision making in Iran.
He's not on the ballot coming up in those midterms, but many Republicans are, and they'll be hearing from constituents or possible voters about those concerns about price.
And I think that is something that the White House is keenly aware of.
He's repeatedly over the last few months promised that prices would fall very quickly once fighting ends and there's some sort of longer term solution to the problem with
Iran.
But that hasn't materialized yet.
And one poll that was just released on Friday by Reuters and Ipsos showed that only one in three Americans are supportive of the war.
And that's the lowest it's been over the five month period.
It was never particularly popular to begin with, but it's become increasingly unpopular because of the price issue and because many Americans think it doesn't really have clear objectives that the president has set out what exactly it is that the U.S.
hopes to accomplish with this conflict.
