So we throw out on the table, we ask a simple question of the American people.
I don't give a damn if you're conservative or progressive.
Why are we the only major country on earth not to guarantee health care to all people?
And we know the answer.
The power of the insurance companies and the drug companies and other big money interests in healthcare.
Are we prepared to take 'em on and say that within a year, not twenty years from now, not nibbling on the edges, we are going to begin the process of providing health care to all people.
Give you one example.
All right, as a sponsor of the Medicare for All Bill.
First year we lower the age of from sixty five eligibility to fifty five.
We expand Medicare to cover dental hearing envisioning we cover all children.
Sam, you know what that would poll out there, I'd do a poll on it.
I would say eighty to ninety percent people support it.
Let's do it.
Second year we lower the age again, a couple of years, everybody is in.
You do that, people say, Oh my God, government actually can do something for me.
I don't have to worry about my health care bills.
Okay.
Raise the minimum wage to a damn living wage.
All right, millions of workers trying to get by on twelve, fourteen dollars an hour, can't do it.
