New roads and railways now run where there were deep gashes and piles of twisted steel.
Indeed, the work recalls that mighty event
of thousands of years ago when God divided the light from the darkness and in the space of six days laid the foundations upon which man has been building since then.
But before I describe what has been done, let me give you a glimpse of the region before the Germans began their work of destruction.
