Doctor, and I wanna uh allow Miami Commissioner, former Commission Chairwoman, Christine King, in her own words, she herself and District Two Commissioner Damian Pardo had championed this overtown underline grant.

So I I want her to describe exactly what happened here.

So that covered some of what we previously discussed.

But also what happened here, Roy, was that the city, Christine King and Damian Pardo had applied for this grant from the federal government for $25 million for Overtown.

And unbeknownst to them, Eileen Higgins and her administration kind of slid in on the sly.

No, they didn't know.

Christine King didn't know about it.

Right.

It was like revealed to her later by the administration.

That they secretly applied for a competing grant.

Oh my gosh.

Knowing knowing full well that the federal government, if it awarded one grant to the city of Miami, was not going to award it both grants.

So it was gonna be one or the other.

And then

Well, interestingly, Eileen Higgins went to Washington, D.C.

repeatedly, as did Christian King independently, to lobby for their respective grant proposals.

And what Eileen Higgins said was that, well, it seemed to her in her conversations with the administration, I'm talking about the Trump administration, that the Overtown project did not necessarily fit in with their priorities.
