So I was just right into the fire, into the microscope.

You know, I was the chosen one at like 23, 24 in the continental champion.

So I was always under the microscope, never had a chance to relax, never allowed myself to relax.

And I had to get fired at 29 to really be out from under that microscope, have a look at myself honestly, and say, okay, now that not everyone's looking at me, all the eyeballs aren't on me,

Who am I?

What do I want to be?

What do I want to do?

And it was during that time away from the company that I truly started relaxing and honing my craft and improving my in-ring game to wrestle like a main event level wrestler, applying all the lessons I had in my head, but couldn't actually apply in the ring yet.

Working every time on the show on the microphone, okay, I'm going to get better at this.

And the thing with the mic work wasn't that I felt like I couldn't do it.

It was relaxing.

I had all these ideas in my head, but I couldn't articulate them on the microphone properly.

And it was all about relaxing.

the presence, the character, the thing Undertaker would tell me non-stop, that I make jokes about now, that he would just give me advice, would stop playing the wrestler and be the wrestler.

I was like, I'm in wrestling gear, I'm in a wrestling ring, how am I not being a wrestler, Undertaker?

And then finally the light bulb went off, went, I get it now, I get it now.

And you can just look in my eyes and see I'm not present, I'm thinking too much, you gotta be in the moment.

The crowd can feel when somebody's just not in the moment, when they don't know who they are, they're not with you, they're not connected with you emotionally, and you have to figure that out.

or you're never going to make it to that next level.

And I figured that out during my time away from the company.
