Um, we just loved it, it was beautiful. matched

Um right at the base of Pike's Peak. matched

At the time it was a much smaller town, about two hundred and fifty thousand people, so about half the size it is now. matched

Um, I like to be up in Rapid City in South Dakota, but the winters there can be pretty long and brutal. matched

Um and jobs for me were gonna be a little smaller because really the only full time fire department there was Rapid City, which is a great department, but small department and it would probably be hard to get hired there. matched

On the other hand, they have a huge hospital because it services hundreds of square miles up there, which would have been easier for my wife, but you know, obviously they have plenty of hospitals down here. matched

So we just settled on Colorado Springs, so it just was the matched

ideal place. matched

It had the bright mix of things we were looking for. matched

Fairly low um cost of living, um beautiful views, not a big metropolis, you know, a lot of open space, mountains, things that we like, so we ended up here. matched

the the bat the uh the opinion might be out on that still, but we'll see. matched

Well, I was a kid of the basically the seventies, um, give you an idea how far back, you know, how old I am, but um and we lived in a rural area, you know, our house sat on three quarters of an acre of land, so it's on a pretty good th piece of land and behind us was just forest. matched

And it was a time when a little different than now, when you would basically, you know, your parents would tell you, Get out of the house and uh I'll call you when it's dinner time kind of a thing. matched

And we spent a lot of time outside. matched

We spent a lot of time running around in the woods and doing stuff and riding our bikes and and, you know, that kind of thing. matched

Very low density area. matched

It's much higher density now with population, but a very low density area at the time. matched

And um so I was used to spending a lot of time matched

Outdoors. matched

uh on my own, basically just doing stuff. matched
