In you know, AI is has a long and not storied history in healthcare.

In the seventies and eighties, there were a lot of efforts to build AI programs.

And the first problem that they tried to tackle.

Was diagnosis.

And I in for my book I interviewed a bunch of the founding fathers of healthcare AI and mostly d mostly men.

So and I said, Why did you do that?

In retrospect, it was such a terrible mistake.

Uh, because it's the hardest problem.

And they said, We did it because it was the most interesting thing we could work on.

It just seemed like you know, we're do building artificial intelligence.

Of course, let's see if we can match how the doctors think.

But they all failed.

And so they basically went on the shelf for twenty years.

All the academic programs closed.
