I'm sure they're not going to fully give up on him.
Sainar Darius Washington, and then Jason Pinnock.
Two guys who have started full seasons for John Harbaugh and Joe Shane, right?
So having those guys as backups, that's a nice depth spot for the Giants' safety.
But again, Caleb Downs would fit perfectly what the Giants want to do, right?
He's a John Harbaugh, you know, safety.
And to go back on like the, you know, I'll say the athleticism stuff.
It's like, how many times do we have to see the best safeties in the NFL and not test great at the combine and then be great in the NFL?
So it's just like, he's a perfect fit.
But here's another reason why I would get excited about him.
This is, to me, the best player in the draft.
I think a lot of people agree with that, right?
I think it's basically the only people who don't agree either have one guy ahead of them, like Arvel Reese or somebody, or it's the guys who are forming their boards based on the draft order and NFL intel and stuff, where it's like, safety's not going to go top two or top three.
this to me gives you the opportunity to have the best player in the draft two years in a row on defense.
You know, with Abdul Carter and Caleb Downs.
And you can even argue just overall three years in a row with Malik Neighbors, you know, removing, you know, Drake May, quarterbacks, whatever.
But like, you talk about building a Super Bowl champion, and we got to remember that those are the goals for the Giants long-term, not just plugging holes for 2026 or the best pick to get the Giants back to the playoffs or competitive again.
Like,
I can envision looking down the road four years from now, I'm like, man, look at back-to-back drafts.
We've got Abdul Carter in one, Caleb Downs in the other.
