Well, yeah, the First Amendment is literally anti-democracy, right?
The whole point is that even if 51% of the population wants to ban words that hurt their feelings, you can't.
And so obviously you want a government that is accountable to the people.
You don't want a king.
You don't want a dictatorship.
But you also don't want just tyranny of the majority or unfettered mob rule either.
And so...
I it's funny, there's just a lot of disdain for the founders these days because, oh, they were like white men or they owned slaves like everyone else at the time or what have you.
But it's actually astonishing if you ever look at a list of their ages, how young these men were yet.
the genius of some of the things some of them were even younger than that i believe when they signed the declaration of independence um and it's astonishing that some of the principles they established and i think it requires a level of arrogance to think that you and your infinite wisdom as a 25 year old dsa activist who still lives with your mom um knows better
