Their first game was in 2024 called Lil Guardsmen, which was a really sort of colorful, charming riff on Papers, Please, which was a much more like...
you know, serious narrative game about empathy with an immigration officer.
But their take on it was more fantastical and colorful, very inspired by Saturday morning cartoons.
It was really funny and well acted.
And they have a new game coming out this year called Curse of Resthaven, which is the complete opposite in terms of tone and style.
It's a gothic roguelike time loop game.
But I just think they're a really cool studio because they're making these very personal, sort of unique, colorful, or in this case, gothic, very stylized sorts of games.
And I think it really speaks to
Not only the talent that we have in Toronto here, but specifically the idea of having different kinds of artists approach games.
Like the head of the studio who does writing, directing, composing, a multi-hyphenate, Scott Christian.
Him and several of the other devs have big backgrounds in the art scenes, whether it's theater or music or animation.
And I think that really shows in sort of the creativity of the game, of the games that they make and the musicality of it.
Like even Lil Guardsman, like there's a some of the people that you sort of talk with are nods to like slasher movies.
Like there's one character named Stabatha, which is just a nod to like, you know, Jason Voorhees sort of character.
Or there's a psychotic Disney princess style character who like sings about wanting to burn the kingdom down.
And that's they're all like really well acted and well written.
And the music behind them is all really good.
And I think that's a testament to them coming from.
a different background than just oh i'm a programmer sort of thing and also just the fact that they do a lot of cool stuff locally in toronto like scott works with actra which is our canadian actors union and really helped them sort of get a better deal for for actors and video games and uh they do a lot of events and everything so i just i think all around just a really good really talented studio and definitely check out little guardsman and wishlist curse of rust david
Yeah, I'm not on Twitter anymore.
