I mean, I think any time, at the beginning of every offseason,
Taking, you know, taking what your team is, where you think it's going to be, how to balance short and long term with winning the World Series, right?
And the biggest thing I think is you can't make assumptions with how things are going to play out.
So you have to do your due diligence.
You check in on guys that you think would be a fit, even if it's likely a long shot.
Like we felt Edmund was a long shot.
We felt Tuck was definitely a long shot.
But saving contact, like, hey, let's keep in touch.
shake out or maybe we're an interesting landing spot.
Like, let us know because we love the player in a vacuum and we don't know how this is all going to play out.
Um, so as we went along, same thing with, with sugar, as we got to talk, like probably, you know, kept in contact, hadn't come off the board yet, seven to 10 days out.
It's like, okay, checking in, maybe, maybe there's a shorter term, um, play that makes sense for us and that Kyle would, would value.
So it's just keeping those conversations going and making sure that, you know, if it got to a point where that was where he was going to land on this, you know, in this short term deal that we were at least in there and showing that, Hey, we think this would be a really good fit for both sides.
So I think that's a lot of it.
And then as it got closer to, you know,
the deal actually coming out and it being made.
Obviously those conversations intensified, but there was a lot of, you know, groundwork laid early in the off season.
And then as things played out, making sure that back and forth is there.
