Steve, yesterday was wild.
Uh Frank Gaffney was correct about that.
We had Muslim testifiers flood the board.
And of course, they didn't just show up randomly on their own.
They're being organized by a domestic or a foreign terrorist organization, uh the Council on American Islamic Relations, but they were really out in force.
And I think the reason why, or know the reason why.
Is uh my Mohammed amendments from the last meeting where we're talking about describing uh for our students early Islam in terms of uh Mohammed's brutal military campaigns against Christian and Jewish tribes, uh, and about his just his brutal practices, the normalization of slavery, the taking of female captives as sex slaves.
And so, of course, in Islam, uh they considered that an insult to their prophet, even though it's just
Accurate history that's important for our students to understand the nature of a major world religion.
And so really, I think that's why we saw them turn out in force.
They were very offended by that.
It was kind of like kicking a East Texas fire ant heel.
And um, but we were able to get a good uh, you know, coming out of that into today, we were able to give initial approval to those uh world history standards for high school.
They actually do include that Mohammed Amendment.
as well as a jihad amendment that talks about how jihad was used to spread Islam throughout the world and conquer Christian lands.
So we're we're getting good results.
Um we've been able to hold the line, but it hasn't been easy.
Yeah, well, in uh in US history, the only time that Islam is mentioned is when we do talk about the Barbary pirate the Barbary pirates and the Barbary Powers Wars, which haven't been talked about in the state of Texas for a really long time.
That'll be new.
And then when we start talking about uh terrorism um in more of the modern era, we talk about 911.
