So they value the wealth, but the third generation sees no struggle.

All they know is wealth and everything's easy for them.

So they squander the wealth, right?

And we're sort of entering a similar scenario here with Bitcoin, where as soon as you have FU money, do you really have an incentive to fight the state and put yourself at risk?

And I think the answer is no on the margin.

So we do need to cultivate a culture in Bitcoin that does preserve the values of Bitcoin, the unique values of Bitcoin.

Because if we screw this thing up, it's going to be another 500 years of monetary repression and we may never get another chance again.

How do you do that, though?

How do you fight the third-generation curse?

I don't know.

I don't have a good answer here.

I've done some thinking on it.

You can look to historical parallels, like how do you preserve culture long-term?

You have a priesthood class who learns the values, and then they protect the culture and pass the culture on, and you sort of have this organization to do that.

There's been many attempts to do this in Bitcoin and they all have been catastrophic failures.

So I don't think that's actually the move.

Eric Kaysen had some zany ideas on how to preserve this and create a secret society.

There was the Bitcoin foundation by Jao Kimo a while back that also burned.

And so I don't know if that's the right move.
