First of all, we think we own the whole company.
So we're imagining we're buying the entirety of Apple, even though not, we imagine that.
Yeah.
So Apple or this, any other company is a, is a cash generating machine and we've got to figure out, okay, how good is this machine at,
making money.
How good is it?
Is it getting better at making money over the next 10 years?
And then also how much do we think it's going to make over the next 10 years?
And then we discount it back to today to say, okay, if we owned the whole company, we are entitled to 100% of its cash flows for the next 10 years.
And then we're also going to sell the entire business in 10 years.
We've got 10 years of cash flow events coming to us.
We've got that big sale at the end coming to us.
And then based on all the future cash flows we're going to generate from this investment, what is it worth to us
now in today's dollars, because of course there's a time value to it.
So we have to wait to get those cash flows.
We figure out what it's coming back to as today based on a return that we would like to generate.
So when I do this, I use a 15% annual return.
If I use 10%, may as well just buy an index fund kind of thing.
So I want to target a little bit higher.
So we bring all the cash back to what we could pay for it today.
