I know that the Blue Jays have preached fundamentals in catching the ball almost ad nauseum, and Ross Atkins brought it up again yesterday several times, but

But he's right.

I mean, the margin for error in these games is so small.

And one small mistake can change the course of a game.

And potentially if you're the Red Sox now, you're facing elimination today and it could potentially end your series.

So yeah, this is the time where everything is magnified and the little things mean a lot.

And so if you're the Blue Jays who have a strong track record of taking care of the ball, you feel pretty good.

And if you're the Red Sox who all season have kind of been plagued by misplays, it kind of bites them once again.

Yeah, that's where I was.

I think I would rather live and die with my best guy.

I think it was obvious that Whitlock was fading.

I think everyone saw that.

I believe he walked.

I think he had his jazz chism right before he gave up the Wells hit.

But he got two strikes on Wells.

He failed to execute a pitch.

And when Wells just hits that single fair, I mean, another inch to the right and maybe the Whitlock wiggles out of it.

But yeah, I think...

I could understand if he would have taken Whitlock out, but I would rather ride with my best reliever rather than throw Peyton Tully, a rookie who started the majority of the year, who now is working in the bullpen, rather than throw him into that situation.

And look, if he takes Whitlock out and then Tully gives it up, then Cora's probably getting ripped for throwing a rookie into that situation.
