Afterwards I was overwhelmed by the number of messages from young widows and widowers who told me how little sport there can be after losing a partner or husband so young.

So I put a call out and today these three women have very bravely agreed to share their stories.

Katrina lost her partner Tim, aged forty five, on November twenty second, twenty twenty five.

She had spoken to Tim earlier that day and was expecting him to collect her after dinner with friends.

When he didn't arrive, she and his sister later found him collapsed at home.

And desperately tried to save him.

Sam lost her partner Sean on September third, twenty twenty three.

He was just twenty-nine and died suddenly from a previously undetected heart condition, leaving Sam raised our young child Jay and stepson Nathan.

while trying to come to terms with the last nobody saw coming.

Fiona lost her husband, Stephen, on april twenty fourth, twenty twenty one, when he was just forty seven.

Stephen collapsed suddenly at home and later died in hospital.

Fiona was left not only with the shock of losing her husband, but also with unanswered questions thrown to his death.

Today is about their partner's husband, their grief, what life looks like afterwards, and the lack of support that can exist for people who become widowed at such a young age.

We met for a coffee before this and you all kinda got to know each other.

Yeah, we did.

And I said to you when we were walking down the Marina Market, if I had someone had come up to me and if they knew me and I said, Oh, I'm just going to do a podcast with three young widows, they wouldn't believe me.
