He had a promissory note go bad.
So we had to take it to a new Orleans notary.
And then the notary had to go find the guy who had written the promissory note.
It turns out he wasn't at his house anymore because his wife had kicked him out and he was living in a stable and they tracked him down at the stable.
This is all in the notarial records while they're trying to like, and then it turns out that he eventually stole a horse and left new Orleans.
No, unfortunately.

So that's a really important question, and the answer is not what you think it is.
They do not teach you how to do that.
You read a lot of secondary literature.
You read a lot of theory.
You do a lot of historiography.
So, you know, you'll take a course as a graduate student and you'll sort of, you'll look at all the different ways that people have seen the same period.
The archives, it's a little weird.
It's like...
You know, the cliche of some societies where, you know, when a child is ready to be an adult, they send them out into the woods.
They got to live on their own and they just got to figure it out.
