So what they do is the defender on the edge, who's Tommy O'Brien, say, or one of the wingers, when the box kick comes in, they will run back and they'll have the back to play.
What Bordeaux have done is they have spotted this and they've let Tommy win the ball and they've just gone, you know what we could do now?
We could counter-ruck straight away on this, which is now another collision they're going to win because the Leinster player now has their back to the field of play or their back to the defence.
And it becomes a really easy counter-ruck to have.
And...
You know, I've been kind of waiting for a team to do it.
I didn't think it was going to be Bordeaux, but they picked it out.
They've spotted it and they went after it three times, you know, and it's kind of hard to take that innovation that goes into the game that you've worked hard on and you think you've solved the problem.
It's just giving you another problem somewhere else.
And we have some smart coaches out there.
Yeah.
And, like, look, there's a ton of examples of where they got the better of us.
And, like, the line-out defense, I just got the impression that when we set up for the line-out, we were kind of shocked that they went in the air because there's an awful lot of teams, and we see it in the Six Nations, that they stay down and they more or less, they say, give you the front, they give you two, and they'll say, well, we'll deal with everything else on the ground.
Like, all of a sudden, James Ryan and Joe McCarty have Cameron Waukee sitting in the air, flapping around, and...
like I laughed the official line out stats were Leinster were like 90% and I was going well hold on a minute they lost three in the first half that I can think of and it was like a bit of a surprise element to them so I don't know I know James Ryan would have done a lot of homework on the opposition but yeah they were spooked definitely yeah you wonder if the walkie slapping the line out dead in the corner actually counted as a win because they did hold on to possession I actually thought it was a penalty is that not intentionally knocking the ball there to touch yeah
Well, it's actually one that never hasn't got mentioned at all.
I was going to question Joe McCarthy's try that he scored.
I wasn't aware you could jump over the tackler.
Yeah, it was pretty similar to that Dan Sheehan moment.
Yeah.
