It's really rewarding to see that when you have a fantastic story about a plant to tell, that people are really interested, they really care, and they've really become attached to putridia. So it's a really beautiful thing.
It's a chemical production that happens within the plant and its purpose is to attract pollinators, which in this case are flies and carrion beetles, anything that's attracted to a rotting animal in the jungle. It's a smell that really penetrates through the jungle, so it's a fantastic adaptation to life in the jungle of Sumatra.
