Darnell Nurse, I never thought he should have been on that Oilers power play years ago when no one else was there and he was putting up numbers.

I always thought he needed to be a rough and rugged defensive defenseman.

And with the money that he's got, it's easy fodder for the fan base and other people to pick at him, the press.

And if he made less, he'd be blending in as to what he made.

And, you know, maybe the ego would be a little bit different.

And sometimes you push yourself to play differently because you've got a certain dollar amount.

I remember when Brooks Orpik came to the Caps.

He got a lot of money.

A lot of people were surprised.

It was $5 or $6 million a year.

And it was long-term.

And people were bent out of shape.

And the greatest thing about Brooks Orpik, he never changed a damn thing about how he played the game.

He stuck to nailing guys.

cleaning out the front of the corner, punishing players in the corner, blocking shots, and chewing ass in the dressing room when it needed to be chewed.

And he stayed true to himself, and he won a Stanley Cup here at the Caps.

And a very good player, and he was overpaid at the time, but by the end of it, it was no big deal.
