You know, you fast-tracked that to Carlton last year.
Four teams, two men, two women, AFL, VFL, both.
120 players minimum, 120 full-time staff.
But if you take the AFL alone, you're talking 40-odd players,
and around about 100 staff, full-time staff.
So you're talking like two-to-one ratio, one player to two staff, whereas once upon a time it was one player to six staff.
So what's happened in those 40 years is you've improved, you've increased the support around players by 12 times.
Think about that for a minute and the cost in doing that and the welfare around that and the care and the coaching and everything that goes with that.
And so that's been the big difference.
But what also has increased is the accountability of those people.
Has it increased 12 times as much?
Probably not.
But the accountability is unbelievable.
And the one thing that I've learned out of high performance, and hopefully I've learned a few things, but one of the things that sticks out for me is the more accountability you want from your people, the more support you have to provide.
One has to go with the other.
One can't go without the other one.
It's far too often in our industry and in other industries' business where you want accountability, but you don't provide the support.
You don't provide the feedback.
You don't provide the ability to go to a few courses, et cetera, et cetera.
So that's one thing that's really hit me over the last 40 years, the amount of support now, increased support for people, for staff as well.
