Okay, this was Gerald Soften, the lead guy on Viking, who was addressing the press.
He said, don't worry, at different lighting conditions, the facial features went away.
They never did re-photograph the face hours afterwards.
This was a lie.
Okay.
Why?
Because a few hours later, the camera wouldn't even have been in the same position.
There were no other photographs.
There were photographs taken many months later of the face under different lighting conditions, and the facial features continued to hold up.
Now NASA wanted to immediately start dismissing any significance to the face, okay?
So that led to this independent Mars investigative team led by Richard Hoagland, who you might have heard before.
A lot of people think the face on Mars, they think Richard Hoagland.
He's the guy who really started this whole independent look
at Mars and the artificiality hypothesis.
We got to give this guy a lot of credit.
He was a science journalist, science advisor to Walter Cronkite in the press room when NASA did that press conference, and at the time everybody bought it, but it wasn't until later when NASA consultants started looking through Viking images and said, hey, you know what?
There's additional photos of the face and these other things that look like pyramids.
So, hmm, NASA, why aren't you talking about this?
So because NASA didn't investigate these things, Richard Hoagland put together an independent team, and he pulled together...
experts phds from different disciplines anthropology plasma physics okay biology aerospace these these sorts of things and hey look we think there's something to mars we really need to look at this stuff because nasa isn't taking this stuff seriously one of those people was professor stanley mcdaniel of sonoma uh university who came out with a book um
