That's what Gerald Soften, the NASA guy, said.
And so Sagan said, I certainly agree that Jerry Soften's trick of lighting offhand remark is in error.
meaning he's acknowledging that NASA should not have said that because these facial features do hold up.
Now, the question is, aside from it just looking like a face, is there any analysis beyond just kind of what we can intuit from this feature that demonstrates that there is something a little bit more going on here?
And the answer is yes.
Again, getting back to Dr. Mark Carlotto, who was the one who reconstructed the face using 3D software,
He published a paper.
Let me first frame this by what is Carl Sagan's famous quote?
It's extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
A lot of people throw that around when anything bold is claimed online.
Well, you know, people want to type that.
Yeah.
So Carl Sagan has this other quote that came from Cosmos, something to the effect of,
intelligent life first reveals itself through the geometric regularity of its construction.
If you're in a spaceship looking down on a planet, how do you know there's intelligent life there?
The first thing, the first indicator you're going to see are long straight lines like roads and cities and buildings or pyramids or things like that.
Something with geometric regularity, not just random things.
Okay.
Um,
So when looking at the face, Mark Carlotto said, huh, if you take the images that Viking took and orthorectify them, straighten them out to make, you know, because sometimes they're taken a little bit off axis.
