That planted a seed that really didn't start to sprout until my senior year in college when 9-11 happens.

And I had two uncles in the towers.

One uncle was my dad's best friend.

I grew up calling uncle.

Another was my mother's brother.

One worked for Cantor and didn't make it.

And the other made it out.

And it was in that moment during my senior year, the only job I had before was making pizza since I was 14 and working pizza shops all through high school and college.

And the place I worked at, like, hey, you and this other guy, you're going to franchise a place in Jersey.

And we were like, yes, we're going to do that.

And then the towers came down and the Pentagon got hit.

And I remember sitting on the roof of the...

really rough house we were living in in Villanova.

And he's like, I can't do this.

And I was like, neither can I. We got to serve.

And so I really hyper-focused on taking this route.

Yeah, so, you know, I was one of many of that generation, I'll say, or my peer group that intended to immediately enlist in the military.

And my uncle, who made it out of Ground Zero, he also served in the military.

And I think he, with some prodding from my mother, grabbed me and was like, nope, you're going to go this route instead.

I was sitting on a scholarship to go to Pepperdine for graduate school that I intended on abandoning.
