Uh handful of other candidates got votes too.

How divisive do you think that was for what has been a pretty unified Republican front across Sam Graves' uh twenty-six years in that job?

What do you think made the difference?

I mean, when you look across North Missouri, including the Kansas City area, but really it's a it's a huge cross section of the state.

Why did voters say that you and not any of those other four candidates should carry the standard for Republicans?

You know, a lot of folks thought that the big conflict or the the the big question was whether you'd be able to overcome support for Willet in the part of the district that's in Kansas City where he was better known.

Uh but in fact you won in Clay County, you won in Platt County.

Uh why do you think that is?

What is it that uh attracts you to to Kansas City voters, which is, you know, has not necessarily previously been your your core your core base of support.

So as you now sort of turn your attention to the November election, obviously this is a strongly Republican district.

You're gonna be heavily favored uh to to to take this seat.

Even so, there is a lot of concern, even among Republicans, about a lot of things, about the war in Iran, about the economic impact of President Trump's tariffs on farmers, about affordability, as we heard some other candidates talking about earlier.

What's gonna be your message to voters and particularly to those who are not?

voters who aren't super comfortable with how things are going right now in Washington.

You know, uh Sam Graves over his time in that role found himself sort of focused in particular areas, obviously was chair of the the powerful transportation committee.

Uh what do you see will be your main focus?

Is there a particular issue, a particular piece of legislation that even in your first term you you hope to introduce, you hope to to carry the the banner for?

Do you get a break here for a couple of days or are you heading right back onto the campaign trail?

I'm sure that's right.
