You know, there is a there is still a section of opinion that thinks the Irish army should have gone in.

When we talk about conspiracy theories, these are, you know

it it might even be the wrong term, but there's these explanations which people cling to because they give them some emotional satisfaction in some sense.

We could have sorted it out in nineteen sixty nine.

We didn't have to have this bloody thirty year war if the Irish government had been stronger, if the Irish Army had done something more.

And then when you actually look at the the facts of that, you can actually see that some of these decisions could have been

catastrophic.

You look at Jack Lynch who's seen as the you know, obviously the

Not the moderate to people who like him, the sensible politician to those who support him, and then the traitor to others.

What he says in that T V broadcast, I mean it it's on YouTube, so people should look at it.

I mean, you do get the sense from it that something big is going to happen here and that the Irish government are actually going to move.

And also that he'll refuse to use the term Northern Ireland.

He's talking about the six county area.

He's talking about, you know, the north.

So again, that shows you that th the you know, this what we now take for granted as these two states living beside each other wasn't.

So people expected, you know, possibly that the Dublin government was obliged to do something more.

And there's a whole range of other, I think, issues

questions that arise then from the northern conflict that very diverse groups of people can take satisfaction from that answer.

So again, you know, what became known as the stickies, the official Republicans, unionists, people who who end up as Hawhee's enemies in the South, you know, like the Progressive Democrats party that broke away from Fiend of all, they can all cling to this idea that he was responsible for the probos and therefore responsible for the Northern conflict.

Then on the other hand, people can dismiss any idea that the Irish government or that politicians were in the least bit concerned about, you know, left wing agitation and so on, because they're usually dismissive of that agitation.
