So I am hopeful that the Supreme Court will, number one, agree to hear the case, and then, number two, rule against the three-judge panel here in Texas and allow our elections to proceed as we have been planning for the last several months.
But I want to be really clear on this point because we should never take anything for granted.
We should always be leaning forward as you talk about a maximalist strategy here.
We should be preparing contingency plans right now, right this second, in the event that the Supreme Court does not overrule these three judges and strike and slaps down our maps.
The governor of the state of Texas needs to be making contingency plans right now to not only bring us back,
But if we're not allowed to go on the current maps, we should redraw maps.
We should do it the second the Supreme Court if they rule against this.
And don't just add five seats.
Let's add six seats.
Let's add seven seats.
Let's add eight seats if we have to do this again.
I hope it doesn't come to that, but we should be preparing right now.
That memory, I would have to be fact checked on that, but I believe that is correct.
I think we're talking about Judge Brown here.
You know, I don't know.
It's a very long opinion.
So I want to be very clear, I have not had a chance to go through the entire opinion.
But he is hanging his hat on a lot of statements and a lot of other rhetoric that was made down here by senior Republican officials in the Texas government.
I want to still be clear, I believe that the judges are wrong.
I don't know why he ruled this way.
